United Nation eTrade for Women Masterclass 2021

Applications are open for the United Nation eTrade for Women Masterclass 2021. All sessions will be delivered by renowned business leaders and experts in their fields.

UNCTAD is championing the eTrade for Women initiative to advance the empowerment of women through ICTs (SDG target 5.b). This new endeavor undertaken with the support of the Netherlands and in collaboration with eTrade for all partners aims at allowing more female digital entrepreneurs to make their voices heard in high-level political decision-making processes and to empower the next generation of female entrepreneurs in developing countries.

The UNCTAD-led eTrade for Women initiative is creating regional networks to help women digital entrepreneurs access the resources needed to succeed and contribute to sustainable development.

Objectives

The eTrade for Women communities have four main objectives:

  • Build: After a masterclass, to create and nurture communities of women digital entrepreneurs all around the developing world with the potential to become digital leaders of tomorrow.
  • Empower: To help entrepreneurs to grow by providing access to resources and support to develop their businesses and inspire future generations of entrepreneurs.
  • Connect: To enable members to expand their network by interacting with like-minded women digital entrepreneurs, sharing experiences and best practices that will help them overcome the barriers they face daily.
  • Impact: To reduce gender inequality by bringing female digital entrepreneurs to the decision-making table, leveraging their presence in policymaking processes to shape a more sustainable and inclusive future.

Eligibility

In order to apply to the Masterclass, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be a woman and  the founder/co-founder of your business.
  • Applicants must have a track record of 2 to 5 years in this role.
  • Applicants must have new technologies and digital tools with business model and operations.
  • Applicants must be based in one of the following countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda.
  • Applicants who want to make a difference and impact your ecosystem​.
